The DoMans
The Lazy T
It all started in a warehouse in Hackney…
Well, that’s where we met.
Katy grew up here on the farm, moving away for 15 years to study, work and travel. She moved back here in 2016 with her husband, Skot.
Skot, a rolling stone, had put in some serious study at the University of Life, rolling around the world, leaving a trail of friends and bizarre jobs behind him. The closest he’d come to settling was in Wanaka, New Zealand, where he’d worked alongside highly skilled and creative craftsmen. An opportunity arose to apply his skills when we achieved our planning permission to develop an eco-tourism site on the land. He was also introduced there to Rope Access work (Industrial Abseil), which became his trade and has taken him around the world since… till now.
A passion for working with the natural environment
Whilst in London Katy worked in the Fashion Industry as a pattern cutter, but Skot’s transitory spirit rubbed off because she decided to leave the Industry behind and convert a Transit van to a camper and head off around the continent. Skot caught up with her on the West Coast of France, where she was working as a chef.
After spending some time in Northern Spain, we found ourselves back in Yorkshire, planning a project and bringing our daughter Ava into the world.
Our combined life experiences seem to have brought together a flair for design, a passion for working with the natural environment, years of hospitality experience, and a desire to live in a more sustainable way.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What should I bring glamping at The Lazy T?
Pack layers for moorland weather, sturdy shoes or boots, a warm jumper for starry nights, and a lightweight, waterproof jacket. Bring your favourite coffee/tea, any BBQ bits you love, and personal toiletries. We provide bed linen, towels, basic cooking oil/seasoning, kindling, cookware, and washing-up essentials. If you’re bringing a dog, add a towel, lead and bed. A small torch is handy for late walks.
Which space is right for me — cabins, domes or the cottage?
Choose by season and comfort:
Beck (cabin): secluded, streamside, year-round, wood burner; perfect for couples who want total peace.
- Brook (cabin): ultra-secluded, off-grid woodland cabin beside the stream; year-round with wood burner and solar lighting. Kingsize bed, open-air hot shower and a simple kitchenette. Hand-built by us to sit lightly in the forest — perfect if you want deep quiet, craftsmanship and dark-sky stargazing.
Creekside (dome): step-free access, huge deck, April–October; great if you want canvas + comfort without steps.
Secret Valley Cottage (on-grid): heating, Wi-Fi, full kitchen, and west-facing garden; ideal for those who want to enjoy nature with modern conveniences or take a work-and-walk break.
Are dogs and accessibility both catered for?
Yes. We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs across our spaces (please keep them under control near wildlife). For accessibility, Creekside offers ramped, step-free access from the parking area to the deck, featuring wide entrances and smooth thresholds. If you have specific questions, please let us know what you need, and we’ll discuss it with you.
What should we plan to eat for a 3-day stay?
Keep it simple and local. A sample camping food list for 3 days:
Day 1: pasta with sauce, salad, good bread; bits for breakfast in the morning.
Day 2: eggs, oats and fruit for breakfast; picnic (cheese, tomatoes, crisps, apples); BBQ in the evening (veg, fish or sausages) with toasted marshmallows or fruit cooked over the coals.
Day 3: yoghurt and granola; soup with sourdough; an easy one-pan supper (gnocchi with pesto and greens).
