immerse yourself in nature
A Wild Getaway
Nestled in amongst nothing but nature, The Lazy T is the perfect sanctuary to switch off, find some solitude, read that book you’ve been wanting to open for a while, forage for food, immerse yourself in the ancient art of cooking over fire, enjoy evenings of peace and quiet where all you can hear is the hooting of the owls, the crackle of the fire and the stream trickling on by.
The Lazy T focuses on simple pleasures that, in the right place and company, become so deeply felt.
Explore, escape modern-day madness and slip into a Lazy T state of mind.
Luxury eco-retreat
Here at the Lazy T we make sure that eco doesn’t mean compromising on luxury.
All our sites you’ll find luxurious beds with high quality linens and towel, private flushing facilities and steaming hot showers.
We went to great lengths to build in the most sustainable way, using eco-building techniques and timber sourced directly from the farm. We use solar panels. We treat our own grey water and use zero-waste cleaning products and toiletries.
nestled in nature
The land is untamed and bursting with life. Years of rewilding means you’ll be surrounded by a truly natural landscape teaming with wildlife and native wild flowers -the way mother nature intended.
A designated International Dark Sky Reserve, we're officially one of the best places in the country to see the stars.
Experience and adventure
Take a guided tour round our local territory to learn about wild edible food and how to use it, followed by a wild picnic. A crisscross of public footpaths and bridleways make The Lazy T the perfect base for hiking and mountain biking. Personalised walking maps to take in the sobering glory of Rievaulx Abbey or perhaps a 1hr15min hike over the valley to the local pub, The Owl at Hawnby.
Road and mountain bike rental available at Sutton bike, home to 5 traffic-free cycle routes and pump track.
Food
For a truly lazy experience let us do the thinking for you. You can order a three course meal for your arrival. All you have to do is get the fire on and flip the burgers - everything else is freshly made and ready for you to dig in. Meal includes something to BBQ, nibbles, starter, buns, salads and dessert.
If you manage to drag yourself away from the Lazy T there are fantastic restaurants in Helmsley. Our favourite is Bantam.
There’s also a tearoom and pub 1hr 15 hike away in Hawnby.
